Teachers today receive less respect from students than those in the past.

  As far as I’m concerned, teachers today are receiving respect as much as the past. There are rude students and ignorant parents in schools, of course, but being respected does not necessarily mean being authorized or hierarchal against students and their parents. Being respected means to be nice to others and to be recognized as a nice human being from others. In that sense, a teacher can become respected and friendly at the same time as an equal human being. In this point of view, teachers today are not only being respected from students and their parents as before, but also being more friendly.
  Some people say that teachers are not respected enough based on some extreme news, but it is not logical to generalize an extreme case to the whole system. For example, in South Korea, there are about two thousand high schools and a few hundred thousand students. If a news reports the most extreme student or high school, then it is just a little portion of the whole system; one of a few hundred thousand students or one of two thousand high schools. It is totally a nonsense to argue that teachers are not respected as much as in the past based on these few extreme cases. For this reason, I cannot agree with the argument that teachers are not respected as much as before.
