1. All university students should be required to take basic science courses even if it is not the field of their study.

Taking basic science courses even if they are not students¡¯ field of study is essential for university students because it enhances their basic understanding of social problems. Social problems like the global warming are important problems to be dealt with regardless of what people study, and increasing awareness among people is the most crucial step to deal with such problems. As individual¡¯s effort to resolve such problems is important, university should require students to take basic science courses.
Ex) university students create environment club and campaign for CO2 reduction on campus.

Taking basic science courses even if they are not students¡¯ field of study can be a great asset for students because a lot of companies nowadays look for well-rounded people. As most businesses involve collaboration with other companies, students can become more competent having knowledge other than their field of study. Having basic knowledge of science and technology would make students who are not in those fields more versatile, so university should require students to take basic science courses.
Ex) Marketing companies, business with bio tech companies -> understanding = good relationship

2. Teachers should be paid at least as much as doctors, lawyers or business leaders are paid.

Teachers should be paid at least as much as doctors, lawyers or business leaders are paid because their work is as important as doctors¡¯, lawyers¡¯ or business leaders¡¯. Nurturing children is like investing in the future as children are the future of society. Since people who take care of the future of society deserve a better treatment, teachers should be paid more.
Ex) Better treatment -> quality of teacher up -> better education

Teachers should be paid at least as much as doctors, lawyers, or business leaders are paid because it can be a great way to improve quality of education children receive. The quality of education deteriorates more and more because many smart people who have passion for teaching choose jobs like doctors, lawyers, or business leaders over teachers for more money. When teachers can make more money, more qualified people would teach children and thus improve the quality of education.
Ex) Friend used to teach at a public school -> left to become a doctor because it did not make him enough money to support his family.

3. Some people believe going on field trips is better for children¡¯s education (eg. going to museum), while others think it is better for children to study in the classroom at school. Which one do you prefer and explain why.

It is better for children to go on field trips because it offers children more realistic ideas about what they have been seeing in the books. Having a hands-on experience with artifacts, dinosaurs, art pieces and etc, children would remember the knowledge more easily and longer. Since it greatly enhances children¡¯s learning, children should go on field trips rather than studying in the classroom at school all day.
Ex) art class -> art museum -> impressionism -> better understand impressionism style

It is better for children to go on field trips because it may be a less stressful way to study for children. Children get a lot of stress studying in a class for a long time, but outside activities such as field trips can be a great means not only to relieve stress but also to teach new information. Since field trips provide opportunities for students to be refreshed and obtain new information, children should go on fields trips.

Ex) Elementary school -> children bored and not want to study in computer science -> field trip to future tech center -> learn about future technology we can do with computer and had a lot of fun.

4. Which is better for children's education: 9-month study and 3-month break or 11-month study and 1-month break?

Nine-month study and 3-month break is better for children¡¯s education because children need appropriate amount of rest to continue studying. Forcing children to study long period of time and allow only little bit of break would exhaust children and eventually take children¡¯s interest in studying away. Without much interest, children would get tired of studying easily, so at least 3-month break is required for students.
Ex)  Studying all day made me tired of the subject -> do not even want to open the textbook -> not do well

9-month study and 3-month break is better for children¡¯s education because too much studying may cripple children¡¯s ability to think creatively. Studying is a process by which people obtain existing information, so too much studying limits time for children to think about new and innovative things. When children cannot think of new and innovative things for a long time, their ability to think creatively may disappear. Therefore, 9-month studying and 3-month break plan seems better.
Ex) Korean students study the most but the least creative among OECD countries.

5. It is important to have rules about the types of clothing that people are allowed to wear at work and at school.

It is important to have rules about the types of clothing that people are allowed to wear at work and at school because people¡¯s behavior often reflects on how they are dressed.
Ex) Man U players dress up before a game for professional attitude

Rules about the types of clothing that people are allowed to wear at work and at school can foster sense of unity among students or employees. When people share a common thing, people work together and help each other much easily. Since rules about clothing enhance rapport in community, it looks reasonable to have such rules.

Ex) My friend bullied by other school students –> school uniform -> we helped the friend getting out of the situation

6. Which one is the most important for high school teachers? (students aged 15 to 18)

¡¡¡¡-The ability to give advice about planning for future.

¡¡¡¡-The ability to recognize students that need help.

¡¡¡¡-The ability to encourage students to learn outside of the classroom by themselves.

The most important ability that high school teachers need is the ability to encourage students to learn outside of the classroom by themselves. The ability to study by themselves is crucial for high school students because most high school students need extra materials to study outside of the school such as SAT and ACT. Since good performances in SAT or ACT is also very important to get into good universities, teachers need the ability to encourage students to learn outside of the classroom by themselves.
Ex) High school home room teacher pushed me hard to study extra outside of school -> perform well in SAT

Teachers with the ability to encourage students to learn outside of the classroom by themselves can help prepare for college better. Unlike high schools teachers, college professors do not have much time to take care of their students, so students alone are responsible for completing assignment and studying for exams. Since students should be able to cope with their assignment and exams by themselves, high school teachers need the ability to encourage students to learn outside of the classroom by themselves.

Ex)  Computer science teacher in high school never gave me answer and I had to figure out how to do at home by myself -> excruciating experiences -> college feels much easier.
