To begin with, people do not spend too much money on their pets because their main purpose to spend money on pets is to satisfy their pets’ basic necessity. For the pet owners, making the pets satisfy their needs is the number-one responsibility. The money spent to fulfil their responsibility as a pet owner is enough spending to meet the needs. For example, I used to think my cousin spend too much money on their pets, two dogs. He spent approximately 300 to 400 dollars a month. But one day, I knew that the spending was the minimum to buy foods, collars, and sanitary items for his dogs. Eventually I understood that he didn’t overspend on his pets.
In addition, pet owners’ spending on their pet is never a bad expenses because they consider their pets as their family members. In recent society, where the importance of relationships re-arises, people do not think expenditure on their family members as a luxury. Like a mother spend money on their son, a pet owners’ expenditure is never excessive. For example, my cousin I refered consider his dogs like his sons. Actually, as he is living alone in Seoul, I think he feels the sense of relationship with family with his dogs. So not only he, but also his acquaintances never think his expenditure on pets are waste of money.
