In the lecture, the professor explains why plants shed leaves. For example, wild plants usually shed their leaves in the winter like animals because they need to prevent potential damages. In winter, when temperature falls, they undergo biological process. If there are lots of leaves, the branches may broke. Then, they cannot photosynthesis anymore. Therefore, it is better to get rid of all leaves for the nutrition for trees. This is an example of why plants shed leaves.
