In the lecture, the professor gives two reasons of the question why the bats hang upside down. The bats are very unique for being the only mammals that can fly and for hanging upside down in the caves. First, they hang upside down to hide themselves from the predators. As they hang upside down, they look like a part of the hiding places. Second, they hang upside down, because it is ideal for their take-offs. Since they have weak wings and undeveloped hing legs that can't allow them to start flying from the ground, they have to hang upside down so that they can drop and start flying at any time. Therefore, these are the two reasons of the question why the bats hang upside down given in the lecture.
