According to the lecture, the professor describes reasons why bats hang upside down. There are two reasons.
The first reason bats hang upside down is to hide from danger. In day when bats sleep, they hang in secluded spaces like cave and be active at night. They can hide from predators because they look as a part of the hiding place. Moreover, predators cannot reach them.
The second reason is that bats put them in ideal position by hanging upside down. Since bats have weak wings so they cannot take off from the ground like other birds, and their hind legs are so small that they cannot run to take speed, bats hang upside down so they can always get ready to drop down and run away from the predators.
These are the two reasons why bats hang upside down.
