In the lecture, the professor gives two examples of why bats hang upside down.

First, bats hide from predators when bats hangs upside down. They only move at night because predators move during the day. Therefore, the bats stay in dark places.

Second, bats cannot fly from the ground. Also they have weak legs, so they use wing to fly. Hanging makes bat to take off. Thus, bats can reach high location, but predators cannot reach it

In the lecture, the professor gives two reasons of why bats hang upside down.

First, bats can hide from predators when bats hang upside down in dark places. They only move at night because predators move during the day. Therefore, the bats need to sleep and stay in dark places such as the roof of cave or underside of bridge during the day.

Second, bats cannot fly from the ground. But their wings are weak as well. That's why they hang upside down to gain enough speed and ideal position for take-offs. By sleeping upside down in a high location, bats are ready to drop and take off. This helps to escape from predators and find prey.
