In the lecture, the professor provides two reasons why the bats are hanging upside down. First of all, bats hang upside down to hide hiding from predators. Since the predators are most active at day time and the bats look like part of the hiding place ,so the bats sleep when predator are around, and become active at night.
Besides, bats' wings are too weak that they cannot fly at dead stop and due to their hind legs they cannot run. Therefore, they can just fly down from the place where they are hanging when they see their predators or preys.
