In the lecture, the professor shows two examples of sandfish which is one of subsurface locomotion.
First, sandfish are good at avoiding heat in the desert. According to the professor, the sandfish are cold-blooded animals so that they have to control their temperature. It is possible because they dig deeper into the sand until declining their body temperature.
Second, they are also adapted to hunting. Even though the desert doesn¡¯t have any vantage point to easily find preys since the desert is a barren place, they can find preys easily. It is because they can detect the vibration of the prey¡¯s movement by amplifying it when they bury themselves into the sand.
Therefore, these are the two examples of given in the lecture.
