In the lecture, the professor talks about subsurface locomotion. To explain, he gives an example of lizard called sandfish, and he provides two benefits of subsurface locomotion. First, sandfish have to avoid heat because they are cold blooded animals, so that they avoid heat by staying underground. Next, sandfish hunt prey by detecting vibration. Since desert is a barren place, which blocks sandfish's sight, so that it is hard for them to search for prey. Staying underground amplifies vibration that they can detect small insects. Therefore, these are the two benefits of subsurface locomotion.
