1.Name one of the most memorable memory you’ve had with your family.
One of the most memorable memories I had with my family is going on a trip to Shanghai last year. My family ate a lot of delicious food and saw wonderful buildings of Shanghai. The most memorable place where we went was an aquarium. I was very excited because it was the first time to go to the aquarium. I could relieve all my stress through this marvelous travel to Shanghai.
2.Which would you prefer: face-to-face communication or communication through emails?
I prefer a communication through emails. There are two reasons for this. First, I can save time. We’re living a busy and hectic life, so saving time means we can do a lot more things later. Second, I can make less mistakes because I can revise before sending the email. For example, last year, I had problem with my English score of my final exam. I tried to talk to my English teacher, but it was very difficult to express my meanings without a single mistake. Thus, I sent an email to my teacher, and I finally could persuade her to change my score.
3.In college would you rather take interesting but challenging courses or boring but less challenging course?
I would take boring but less challenging course because of two reasons. First, I can get less stress. Stress is a major factor that harms our overall health. Furthermore, I can save time by spending less time on project. There’s an old saying, “Time is gold.” We’re living a busy and hectic life, so saving time means we can do a lot more things later. Many people say that life is not fair, but everyone has 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, so I would save time by take boring but less challenging course.
4.Agree or disagree: students of all ages should be able to work part-time.
I agree that students of all ages should be able to work part-time because of two reasons. First, students can prepare for their future job. They can find their dream by attending part-time jobs. Second, students can learn the value of money. A thrifty spending habit is indispensable in our lives because little drops of water made the mighty ocean. These are the two reasons why I agree that students of all ages should be able to work part-time jobs.
5.What advice would you give to a friend who wishes to take a year off of their college years?
I would suggest to a friend to keep on studying if he or she wishes to take a year off of their college years. I think students should concentrate on academic courses. Academic courses are the most important thing for students because good grades will help them to get great job. As students get older, a good academic record is the only thing that actually matters. Thus, I want to give an advice to my friend to continue studying.
6.What is one way of overcoming being homesick when studying abroad?
One way of overcoming being homesick when studying abroad is to keep in touch with family. For example, my friend Joy was studying abroad when she was in college. She really missed her country Korea and her family. In order overcome homesick, she used Facebook to communicate with her family. By using this service, she could talk to her family easier than before. Now, she does not feel homesick that seriously as she did before.
7.Which do you prefer: writing a long term-paper or public speaking?
I prefer public speaking because of two reasons. First, I have more confidence in speaking than in writing. For example, last year, I won the first prize at the Korean Speech Contest. This experience helped me to develop speaking skills more. Second, I can save time. There’s an old saying, “Time is gold.” We’re living a busy and hectic life, so saving time means we can do a lot more things later.
These are the two reasons why I prefer public speaking.
8.Agree or disagree: government should ban plastic surgery advertisements.
I disagree that government should ban plastic surgery advertisements. There are two reasons to support my opinion. First, banning plastic surgery advertisements brings about economic loss. A lot of people visit Korea every year for its advanced plastic surgery skill. Banning the advertisement would prevent visitors from coming to the country, which affects the economy badly. Furthermore, plastic surgery helps people to gain self-esteem. It is very important to live confidently. Because of these two reasons, I disagree that government should ban plastic surgery advertisements.
9.Name a famous or influential figure who has inspired you. Describe this person and explain why he/she has inspired you.
Yuna Kim is a famous figure skater. She made countless achievements in international competitions. One day, I saw a documentary about her life as a figure skater. She tried really hard for her perfect performance. Yuna Kim trained a single skill thousands of times in order to use in the contest proficiently. She overcame a lot of hardships to be a great skater. Her endeavor inspired me to try hard at everything without giving up.
10.Agree or disagree: famous entertainers and athletes deserve to have more privacy than they have now.
I disagree that famous entertainers and athletes deserve to have more privacy than they have now. There are two reasons. To begin with, they can gain more popularity. For example, the actor Amanda introduced her house and family in TV show. By appearing this program, she could make an appearance in a film ‘In Time’, which brought her unprecedented fame. Second, because they are public figures, they don’t care of their privacy. Many famous entertainers use their privacy to get closer to their fans. These are two reasons why I disagree that famous entertainers and athletes deserve to have more privacy than they have now.
