The question as to whether watching television and movies is negative effects to young people or not has been a constant debate in the field of education. Majority of people tend to claim television and movies are negative effects to young people. However, I strongly disagree that television and movies have negative effects on young people, because they can be an efficient educational measure and it is restricted for young people to contact them.

First, movies and television can teach young people in better ways. Nowadays, there are several educational movies and television shows which deal with the materials what young people learn and study. When I was in 7th grade, I had a hard time of studying history. The methods my teacher used were too boring so I wanted unconventional measures which can teach me effectively in interesting ways. One day, I got an advice from my principal that I should find a movie which deals with history what I was learning in the class. I finally found the movie and I was totally immersed in it. I could concentrate and understand history better by watching movie which described the history vividly through performing actions. Therefore, even though young people are learning same materials, they will be able to enjoy and focus on the materials they study better by watching movies and television shows which can be a connecting link between education and entertainment. This example clearly shows that movies and television shows do not have negative effects on young people.

Second, it is not easy for young people to contact with television programs and movies which contain negative compounds for them. There are many restrictions for young people to contact with inappropriate media, since their parents and the society do not let them do so. For example, parents let young people only watch television programs and movies which are appropriate for their ages by filtering each of them by their guidance which aspires protection against elements that are harmful to young people. Moreover, when they try to buy, search on internet and watch negative media which are violent, rough and gaudy, the society will reject their accesses due to the restrictions that divide media into the age limits. These examples obviously show that watching television and movie does not give negative effects to young people.
