ES: Smart phone has various functions and the one of the greatest features is searching new information in effective ways.
AE: When I was reading the research paper, smart phone enabled me to look for many sorts of information quickly.  Since I was not familiar with the topic about brain, I was trying to find articles and books from the library; however, it took me forever to search the valuable sources. Therefore, I decided to use smart phone to get information. Without the help from the smart phone, I doubted that I could finish reading in time.
SS: In short, using smart phone is very efficient ways to find various types of sources.

TS: To enhance ability to share ideas, smart phone provides a great connection between students for academic purposes.
ES: Smart phone is a great way to communicate with their peers. They can share and communicate their ideas with the others whenever they faced with the problems.
AE: When I was working on the first group project, my smart phone was not yet activated. I could only talk with the other members through e-mails. This was very inconvenient since I could not check my e-mails in real time. This led me to activate my smart phone. After activated, the group communication was appeared to be more energetic and quicker. This enhanced the ability to share ideas with the peers in broader perspectives as well.
SS: This clearly shows that using smart phone is very tactical way to reach other members.

The use of smartphones while studying distracts students.

Educators have complained that the social network and entertainment smartphones provide make students lose their concentration.

When I was in middle school, I could not go one hour without checking my phone. One time, a week before term exam when I started studying, I wasn’t able to concentrate at all due to my habit. I ended up getting the worst grades of my entire life.

This clearly shows that smartphones have huge influences on academic records, and thus are not appropriate for students while studying.

AE : When I was in high school, I lost my smartphone and had difficulty in researching information for assignments on biology class. I asked my friend and went to library to find some information. I realized the importance of smartphone for studying from this experience.
SS : This clearly shows that smartphone is a important tool for searching materials as well as communicating with others.

TS: Using smart phone while studying causes a distraction.

ES: Nowadays, most students keep their phones with them while doing academic works for an efficient usage. However, since smartphones have games, social media, or internet, students are more likely to be attracted to those apps.

AE: When I was in middle school, I often used to have my phone beside me while studying. I wanted to use my phone as a dictionary or information source. However, I was constantly receiving messages from my peers and notification from apps. This caused me a distraction and eventually addiction to my phone. I began getting low grades from school and interacted less with my friends. I decided to quit using smartphone and I was able to recover from the addiction.

SS: This clearly shows that using smartphone can be distracting and non-beneficial for students while studying.

TS: Adolescent is vulnerable creature to regulate the smartphone themselves
ES: Smartphone is highly addictive devise. It is hard to stop playing with smartphone until their parents speak. In other words, there are plenty of information and SNS in the smartphone.
AE: Some school figured out that the serious problem of adolescent smartphone addiction. Therefore, they made policy that students can’t use their smartphone in the school.
SS: To use their smartphone properly, the regulation is the essential.

TS1: Using smartphone disturbs students to focus during the study time.
ES1: Smartphone entails various type of Social Medias which can alarm anytime.
AE1: When I was the junior, the most important year in a high school, I started to create several Social Medias accounts, such as Snapchat, Facebook, and Instagram, on my phone. Doing this makes me laugh during the boring class time. However, as I spend more time on this, I became more addicted to this. I always check up my phone, and it causes me not to concentrate on those studies. Eventually, it lower my grade.
SS1: So, smartphone is not worth to use for them during study.

TS2: Students cannot effectively control themselves from using the smartphone.
ES2: Since students are still immature in mentally, they do not recognize how to handle those devices.
AE2: They always bring this phones while going to a school, studying, and even sleeping. Teenagers tend to feel comfortable and familiar with this device; they keep scrolling down their screens until they sleep. This ridiculous habit, which ruins their mental and physical, interrupts those students during study time.
SS2: So, the smartphone is not decent device for them during study time.

TS: Using smartphone while studying allows students to relieve stress while studying.
ES: While students study, students are under great pressure that they have to get good grade. This can be really stressful, and students can release their stress by using smartphone.
AE: In my sister’s experience, she was under great stress during final exam term. She did not know how to relieve her stress. This became a serious problem because she was not able to concentrate well on studying. However, after she used her smartphone, she was able to release stress and concentrate better on studying. Thus, she was able to get good grade on the final exam.
SS: This clearly shows that using smartphone can be a good way to relieve stress. With the parent’s management of student’s use of cell phone, this cannot be better than anything.

TS: Using smartphone while studying can be an efficient way to search information.
ES: In modern society, technology has been improved. So, by using smartphone, searching information for studying can be faster and receive recent information.
AE: When I was in high school, I was not able to use smartphone while studying. It took long time to search information and some information from the book was even wrong because the book was too old. After using smartphone to search information, it was much more efficient to search information. It took much less time and there were thousands of new information. Thus, I was able to study efficiently and do homework faster.
SS: This absolutely illustrates that smartphone is a good tool to study efficiently.

[TS] Using smart phone allows students to use their time more effectively.
[ES] Smart phones usually provide useful and various information to students whenever they try. This merit of the devices enables students to learn regardless of time limitation.
[AE] I also have the similar experience when I was in high school. I was interested in art history; however, it was too difficult to invest considerable time to get some materials regarding the art fields. Since I started to use smart phone from the time periods, I could easily access a lot of information regarding the art history with abundant images on subway or even on the road. Thanks to the convenient accessibility, I could learn a lot from those resources wherever I wanted.
[SS] To summarize what I mentioned above, smart phones play a significant role for students to manage their time with efficiency.

[TS] Smart phone is an effective communication tool for students when it comes to share educational information.
[ES] It is clear that students utilize their smart phones for the purpose of communication these days. When they face some problems during school works, they can easily ask their teacher and friends for advice using the messenger on the phone. In this situation, the utilizing smart phone allows students to communicate for the solution effectively.
[AE] I can see this from the case of my sister and her classmates too. They usually exchange their problems and answers using their phone. Once my sister had some questions, she simply sent messages and images with detail. Even if she couldn’t understand some points at first, her friends explained again until she got the answer. In addition, the record of the messages was useful for her to review those points.
[SS] This case shows that smart phone have positive influence on learning for students.

Using smartphone while studying is not good for students

TS: Smartphone distracts students from studying hard.
ES: Nowadays, there are so many applications that lead students to addiction.
AE: On the first day of my finals, I was so distracted by my phone that I could not focus on studying. However, when I realized I did poorly on the exam, I took my phone away so that I don’t get distracted. The result was very surprising. I could fully concentrate on what I have to study, and I did very well on the exam.
SS: This clearly shows that using smartphone while studying is not good for students.
